This is Marvin! Marvin is a very sweet and affectionate Pit Bull Terrier mix who came to the Chester County SPCA as a stray in November of 2011. He quickly became a favorite of the shelter, with his sweet ways and his desire to be near people! However, Marvin got very sick at the shelter with kennel cough. Poor Marvin stopped eating altogether and just lied in his cage feeling miserable. He was put on medication and was hand fed but still that wasn't enough. The shelter staff knew medical care was not the only thing Marvin needed to fully recover. They knew he needed the love of a family to lift his spirits.
Fortunately, a very sweet man came into the shelter right around the time that Marvin was at his sickest. The man, Steve, applied to the shelter as a first time foster. He said he had never had a dog on his own before but was an avid animal lover and just wanted to help someone in need. He was open to any breed and said he would just need help and guidance on being a responsible pet owner and being informed on the particular needs of the animal. We knew Marvin was so in need and although Steve was a first time foster, his heart was in the right place and he was ready and willing to learn.

Steve jumped at the chance to take Marvin home and after some counseling on pet care, information on the Pit Bull Terrier breed and directions on the medications Marvin was on, Steve excitedly became a loving foster father. Marvin was incredibly lucky to find Steve. He was loved and cared for, nursed back to health, and after three weeks, he was ready to be neutered and return to the Chester County SPCA adoption floor.
Although Steve certainly came through for Marvin in his time of need, Marvin's forever family has yet to be found! He is a lovable boy who knows his sit and stay commands and is looking for a forever family that matches his energy level. Marvin is still at the Chester County SPCA in search of his happy fairy tale ending. There are many dogs just like Marvin who remain at our shelter still in need of foster or adoption families!
